Transparency is foundational to PoultryRates.today. This page outlines how we aggregate, validate, and publish daily poultry and live chicken rates across Pakistan.

1. Primary Data Sources

Our rate aggregation engine gathers and cross-references market data from recognized agricultural, municipal, and commercial poultry networks, including:

  • District Wholesale Market Committees: Daily morning rate notifications issued by municipal market committees across Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan.
  • Regional Mandi Trading Bids: Primary market clearing prices (Boli) determined at major regional poultry trading and mandi distribution terminals across 30+ municipal centers.
  • Commercial Poultry Trade & Producer Networks: Verified industry price indices, farm-gate spot announcements, and wholesale distribution data from major commercial broiler production clusters.
  • Independent Field Verification: Periodic ground checks and price verification conducted with registered wholesale commission agents and mandi dealers at key terminals (including Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Faisalabad).

2. How Automatic Updates Work

Every morning between 08:00 AM and 10:30 AM (Pakistan Standard Time / PKT), our automated systems fetch updated rate announcements from primary sources. The data passes through rigorous validation rules:

  • Numeric verification: All rates must be non-zero positive numbers within realistic industry boundaries (Rs. 100 to Rs. 1,500/kg).
  • Anomaly detection: If a city's rate changes by more than 15% in a single day, it is flagged for manual review to prevent distribution errors.
  • Historical continuity: If third-party feeds experience downtime or server errors, our system preserves the previous verified rates rather than publishing blank or zero values.

3. Manual Corrections and Overrides

When discrepancies arise between competing regional reports, our editorial desk steps in. An administrator can manually verify the rate with on-ground wholesale dealers and apply a Manual Override. Manually verified rates are locked so automated feeds cannot overwrite verified human corrections.

4. Why Rates Differ Between Cities

Pakistan's commercial poultry production is predominantly concentrated in the agricultural heartland of Punjab (Faisalabad, Okara, Sialkot, Sheikhupura, and Gujranwala). Cities situated farther from this production belt—such as Quetta in Balochistan or Swat in KP—naturally incur higher freight, vehicle cooling, and live bird mortality overheads, leading to higher retail chicken meat prices.

5. Historical Rate Storage

Every day's rates are permanently archived in our database. We never overwrite historical records. This allows our platform to generate accurate 7-day and 30-day rate history charts and track long-term price movements across Pakistan.
